Anaheim was founded by a group of 50 German families in 1857; its name comes from a blend of the Santa Ana River and "heim," a German term for "home." Nineteen years later, Anaheim was incorporated as the second city in Los Angeles County. In the early 1900s, Anaheim was mostly a rural community; during the latter half of the 20th century, it has grown into a popular tourist destination.

Anaheim is home to the world-famous Disneyland Resort, which regularly draws millions of visitors to the area each year. Other notable Anaheim destinations include the Angel Stadium, Honda Center, Anaheim GardenWalk, and the Grove of Anaheim.
