  • POUCH Happening | Security

A lady came by and said she had a reservation.  So I checked our log but can’t find her name.  She then showed me a coupon.  It was from our competitor.  I then told her that we can also match the same price with a better service plus a free truck move.  These features did not convince her and she has already set her mind to rent from the other facility.  The next day she came back and said she wanted to rent here instead.  Out of curiosity I asked her what changed her mind.  She said that on her way out, she read our access hour times and went straight to our competitor. When she arrived there, she saw a lot of people going in and out after office hours. Right this moment our posted access hour times sign became clear on her mind and gave her a sense of security.  That’s it. She rented with us.

Before moving day, find items that fit in this open space to keep the contents of your boxes secure and well balanced. Remember to label each box with its contents and destination room. Pack Your Items Smartly

Protect your items by packing them in moving-grade boxes, which stack much easier than grocery store boxes. Label every box with the contents and the destination room, for instance; Furniture, Mirrors, Large Pictures, Tables other Fragile Items should be secured with plastic wrap and padding. For a full array of boxes and packing supplies visit www.pouchselfstorage.com for a facility near you.  Disassemble all furniture, removing the hardware and placing it in a sealable bag. Remove the cushions off couches and wrap them for their protection. If you are loading appliances, drain the water out of them 48 hours before loading, as excess water could attract rats.

    Prepare to Load Properly

Before you put items in the truck or on the trailer, lay a tarp or plastic wrap on the floor of the truck to protect your items from dust and dirt. There should be two people in the moving truck responsible for loading, and a few people to help carry items to the truck.

Load the Truck or Trailer Strategically

Pack items tightly and fill all empty space to prevent shifting during transit. Load the heaviest appliances and furniture first, making sure to push the items against the wall to ensure an even weight distribution throughout the moving truck. Next, put the heaviest and largest boxes on top of the appliances and furniture. Pack wrapped mirrors and picture frames in between mattresses and other soft items. Once desks, dressers, and cabinets have been placed on the truck or trailer, put the drawers back inside and apply adhesive plastic wrap. Fill void areas with rolled up bags of linens, couch cushions, rugs etc.

  • POUCH Happening | Trailer Within a Trailer

    pouch happening trailer

One of our tenant’s was storing a small camping trailer in one of our enclosed storage units.  The tenant is moving out of the area but need to transport the trailer with expired tags.  So he brought in a standard box Truck to load his belongings.  Then to our surprise we witnessed them trying to load the camper inside the box truck, we laugh and made wagers that it couldn’t be done. To our amazement they did it, so we went out to take pictures because no one would believe us.

  • POUCH Happening | Fire!!

    Pouch happening fire

Wednesday, May 14 at around 12:30 pm, a large, fast moving brush fire erupted near our facility here at POUCH Self Storage – Anaheim. Fallen power lines during high winds and a 104 degree air temperature seemed to be the cause. Several fire companies were summoned and arrived in moments. The winds were driving the flames towards a mobile home park behind our facility. The authorities began evacuating residents and organizing roadblocks. We urged the few tenants on site to drop what they were doing and exit immediately. All left without hesitation and were assured their valuables will be secure. We began directing traffic through our parking lot as the Police used it as an escape route for all the evacuees from the trailer park. We noticed people standing in the hot sun waiting for updates, to help with the wait we offered people a place to sit on our roller carts. In addition, we made our restroom available to those who needed it. By 3:00pm, the majority of the fire was contained and residents were allowed to return to their homes and tenants were allowed back into Anaheim Self Storage. As everyone was heading home, most thanked us for helping them and expressed gratitude for our involvement. Amazingly, all news agencies reported no injuries or fatalities. Great job Anaheim Fire Authority and Police Department!! Oh, and to the staff at Anaheim Self Storage!

  • POUCH Happening | Sweet Tooth

One of our tenants just recently referred a new customer to us here at Pouch Self Storage – Anaheim. Our new customer needed a space for a few months till she gets her new house. Our tenant assured her that she doesn’t need to go anywhere else but here. She came by and looked a couple of our clean and secure units. The decision was very easy for her. So she signed a month to month contract and used our Free Move-In Truck Service the next day. Our tenant was happy too because she gets a nice referral check applied to her account for bringing us a new customer. The new tenant came by after she moved in and brought by some goodies to satisfy our sweet tooth. She wanted to show us her appreciation for making it as easy as it could be.

Today one of our customers truck died in the front parking area. What seemed to be a easy fix by using AAA to come and take the van to the shop. After the first tow truck had its cable broke sending the truck back down to same spot. Another hour went by until the second tow truck showed up and finally getting it on flatbed and off to the shop. All ended well on a Sunday Afternoon. The team at Fountain Valley hope all the Mothers had a great MOTHERS DAY !!

  • Keep, Purge, or Toss: Tips for Clearing Clutter

Spring is here, which means it’s time to start thinking about clearing the clutter from your house, garage, or self-storage unit . It can feel overwhelming to start the process, especially if you’ve been putting it off for some time. However, it’s much easier when you go step-by-step and have a plan in place before you begin. Simple steps such as tackling one room at a time can make the process go much smoother. Keep reading for more tips on clearing clutter from your home.

    Separate Your Piles

As you begin to go through your belongings, you’ll probably find a variety of things you haven’t seen or thought about in quite some time. Keep your sorting organized by making three separate piles: one for items you definitely want to keep, one for items you definitely don’t need, and one for items you’re not sure about. You can donate the stuff you don’t need and receive a tax write-off, or have a yard sale to make a little extra cash. For the items you want to keep, think about where you’ll put them once the cleaning process is over. If you don’t have enough room, consider renting a self-storage unit to store those items you don’t want to get rid of, but don’t need on a daily basis.

    Enlist Help

It’s easy to get distracted when you’re trying to clear clutter , which is why it can be helpful to have a buddy help with the process. Your friend will help you stay on task, and can serve as a voice of reason if you run into things you don’t know what to do with. When you work with someone else, you may have less of a tendency to get sentimental over your clutter, which means a more efficient and effective process. It’s also helpful to have an extra set of hands when you’re taking boxes to your storage space.

When you need more storage space than your house allows, call POUCH Self Storage & RV at (888) 258-9626 to discuss your unique storage needs. We have locations in Long Beach , Pasadena, Rancho Cucamonga, and 5 more locations in Orange County, so you’re sure to find a space that works for you.

  • POUCH Happening | Orkin Man

    pouch Orkin Man

One afternoon a lady tenant came rushing in to the office screaming. We asked her what her problem was.  She said spiders and lots and lots of spiders.  We found out that she’s scared of spiders and we went to check out her unit.  We saw about three small spiders the most. Either way, we told her that we’ll take care of it as soon as possible and assured her we have the Orkin man. We took a picture of the Orkin Man treating her unit.  This is only way to reassure her that the problem has been taken cared of.
