  • POUCH Happening – Free means free

A tenant came in and rented a unit today. They loved the facility and were impressed by all the security features. It was an easy decision for him to store with us. He was even more fortunate to learn that the afternoon truck move rescheduled. I explained the Free Truck Move Service to him. I mentioned that we provide the truck, driver, dollies, and blankets all for free. He was impressed. He asked if he had to pay for mileage. Nope…all free. “Do I need to put down a deposit for the truck?” he asked. No sir, everything is free. Then he asked, “How about insurance? Do I need to buy insurance for the truck?” I smiled and replied, “Nope, everything is free!” He grinned and said it’s nice that free still meant free somewhere.

  • POUCH Happening – ‘You know you’re old when . . .’

True story: A new customer, we won’t say how old she is, was trying to figure out how she was going to get to the facility for her truck move, since she doesn’t have a car. Clarence told her, “Well, you can’t ride in the truck with me, it’s against the rules, but let us know when you find a ride”.

The next day, the customer called, all excited because she heard about this new ride service –

“No worries Clarence, I’m getting a ride from ‘Goober’!”

Pouch customers are very loyal, even when they move to different city; there is no hesitation about renting with another POUCH location. Tustin customer was moving to our Trabuco location and taking advantage of our “We Move You Free” program .

  • POUCH Happening – K9 Unit

Last week our friendly neighborhood police officers were here. They served a search warrant to one of our tenants. They also had with them their K9 police dogs. One officer said, I was here before and I know that pets are not allowed here. But just to let you know they, pointing at the K9’s are officers too. I smiled and answered, I’m fully aware of that. They were here for about fifteen minutes and said they did not find anything they’re looking for. One tenant was here at the same time and heard the officer said they found nothing. He said, I liked it here, I feel safe when the police check your facility and know everything is fine.

  • POUCH Happening – Closed on Memorial Day

When I arrived one morning a tenant was already parked ahead of me. I parked next to him but stayed in my car. I saw him going back and forth trying to open the office door. So finally I went out from my car and told him we open at 7:00 AM.

He also said that he was here the same time yesterday. I told him we’re closed yesterday for the Memorial Day and pointed to him the door sign stating we’re closed. I also showed him the big sign for the access hours. at the entry gate

From being upset earlier he now looked embarrassed so I asked him if he read all the posted signs. He said he lost his reading glasses and can’t read at close range. I told him next time just to call if he’s not sure. He just looked at me again as if he never heard what I said. Then smiling he said, he has a hard time hearing as well.

He apologized for being early and thanked me for being here on time to help him out.

  • POUCH Happening – Unique Tenants

Here at Fountain Valley Self Storage, we have unique tenants. Last week one of our tenants did some maintenance work on their unit and cell site. Little did they know that there’s also another tenant staying on their cell site. So the temporary tenants were forced to leave and had to find another place to stay until the main tenant has completed their maintenance. But sure enough they found a secure place to temporarily stay for a while.

  • POUCH Happening – We Meet Again

Today while one tenant was inputting his code on the keypad, another tenant was signing in. The tenant that was signing in recognized the other tenant as a friend from over 30 years ago! The two were friends from when they were 10 until they graduated high school and went their separate ways. They caught up for a few minutes and exchanged social media accounts so they can further reconnect. “I cannot even believe I’m standing here talking to you! I was just thinking about you not too long ago wondering where you were and how you were. It is amazing to run into you.” Glad to watch two of our tenants reconnect after so many years!!

  • POUCH Happening – New Bathroom

We recently remodeled our bathroom. Tenants have been asking why we have to tear apart the whole bathroom. We told them that it is one our priorities to make sure that our facility makes immediate repairs and if needed renovations to make our facility up with the building code standards. Tenants were pleased to know that we are always on top of repairs and upgrades especially with services such as providing a handicap access bathroom. For now it looks like this but just wait for the finished bathroom. Coming soon….

  • POUCH Happening – Annual Inspection

It’s time again for our Fire Department’s Annual Inspection. They just showed up without notice and said they’re going around the property to do the inspection. I let them in and about fifteen minutes they said they’re done. All were good and up to date.

  • POUCH Happening – No Parking No Problem

We’ve been quite busy the past week that our parking lot was full all the time. Then, the maintenance company showed up and parked on the side for a few days. Now we also have traffic congestion on the street but we never heard our tenants complain about the traffic or limited parking. They all say that they missed the strawberry fields. We told them, we agree but as long as we’re here they’ll be fine. Not one of them disagreed.
