  • Preparing Your Vehicle for Long-Term Storage

preparing vehicle for long term storage

Whether you have a convertible that you only drive during the summer months or you will be travelling for a long period of time without your car, sometimes you will need to store your vehicle. Large Self Storage units can easily contain your vehicle, and will provide a secure and clean environment while you are away. Before you place your car in long-term storage, there are several steps you should take to make sure your car will be in great working order when you return. Here are some ways to prepare your vehicle for storage:

    Thoroughly Clean
Before you place your car in long-term storage, clean your vehicle from the inside out . Wash and wax the exterior of the car to get the paint spotless and free of debris. Detail the interior, making sure that every surface is clean and in great condition. Cleaning your car before placing it in storage will keep it in good condition for when you return.

    Perform Key Maintenance
If your car will be stored for a month or longer, there are several key maintenance procedures that should be attended to. First, have the oil changed. Letting your vehicle sit with used oil can contaminate and damage the engine. Next, top off the gas in your tank so that the tank and seals will not dry out while the car is not being used.

    Charge the Battery
As your vehicle sits in storage, the battery will slowly drain its power. Before you place your vehicle in storage, make sure that the battery is fully charged. If possible, have someone start the engine and drive the car every two weeks or so. This will ensure that the car battery still has a charge when you are ready to take the vehicle out of storage.

At Pouch Self Storage , we have storage units and RV stalls that come in a variety of sizes to accommodate your vehicle for long-term storage. Call us at (888) 258-9626 to learn more about other self-storage services we provide to residents throughout Southern California.

  • Happening from Anaheim Self Storage – Cops

    Anaheim Happening

April 28 – Yesterday was a busy Saturday for us here in Anaheim. But then towards the end of the day, everything got so quiet that even the neighborhood kids who normally hang out at the parking lot were nowhere to be found. So one of us went out to see what’s going on. Well, we had two police cars parked right next to our corner parking lot. So not only do we have video surveillance on our property; we have police surveillance in our property.

  • Is It Time You Considered Renting a Storage Unit?

Beautiful loft with a bunch of junk

In general, people tend to accumulate a great deal of personal belongings over the course of their lifetime and, more often than not, run out of room for all those items. Fortunately, storage units can solve the headache of trying to figure out where to put all of your belongings. Here are a few common reasons to rent a storage unit:

    Make Room for Guests
Do you have a long-term house guest coming into town? Are you expecting a new addition to your family?  Spare bedrooms often become a catchall for our home’s clutter, including housing boxes, waylaid pieces of furniture, or other misplaced belongings. Whether you need to make room for a seasonal visitor or for a new permanent resident, additional storage can provide the solution. Clear out a spare bedroom quickly and efficiently by renting a storage unit today.

    Store a Collection
A storage unit is a great place to keep a collection that does not otherwise fit in your home. Whether you have compiled a record-breaking comic book collection or have been charged with keeping the family china, self-storage allows you to securely store your belongings while freeing up space in your home.

    Sell Your Home
If you are selling your home, eliminating clutter is a key component of home staging. Ridding your home of excess goods can help make your space look roomier and more appealing to a prospective buyer. Move your nonessential items into storage to help sell your house more quickly.

    Move Efficiently
A storage unit can be a key component of an effective moving plan. Before you move, go through your belongings and determine what to keep and store and what to toss . Once you know what items you are working with, rent a storage unit, temporarily house your belongings, and wait for your home to be prepared.

Are you in need of additional storage? Having operated storage facilities since 1979, the experienced Pouch Self Storage Centers offer a full line of storage options. Contact us today at (888) 258-9626 to learn more about our self-storage solutions.
